"Dancing
on the Water" Smooth Chardonnay
The Wine
True to Chardonnay’s form and reputation, “Dancing on the
Water” offers complex versatility to the palate due to diligent
malolactic fermentation resulting in a soft, creamy, and food-friendly
finish. Fruity flavors (pineapple, peach, and nectarine) and
characters of vanilla, nuts, and butterscotch pair perfectly with all
of Chardonnay’s traditional culinary favorites. Wild yeast
adds a superb mouth-feel and elegant texture making “Dancing
on the Water” a standalone charmer in warm and cool climates.
- South Australia
- Vintage: 2002
- Harvested: Feb/March 2002
- Time in oak: Nil
- Alc/Vol: 13.5%
- Total Acid: 7.2 g/L
- pH: 3.45
The Artistic Expression
Released in 2001, the album entitled Dancing on the Water delighted jazz
fans and critics alike as a fresh, brilliant, and awe-inspiring masterpiece showcasing
simplicity of arrangement and stripped down contemporary piano at its best. Just
like the album’s title song, “Dancing on the Water” Smooth
Chardonnay encompasses an acoustic easiness, a “less is more” appeal,
and a playful overture. As such, the label features a waterfront reflection
of figures, perhaps children, dancing together and enjoying the simple joys of
life. |

"Autumn Nocturne" 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon
The Wine
Deep and dense cherry red in color with brooding fruit aromas of berries and
plums enhanced with toasty oak. The palate is bright and vibrant showing
sweet berry fruit in the mid-palate. Like most Cabernets, the 2001 vintage
Autumn Nocturne is extremely dependable and evolves with age. Remarkable
and rhythmic, warm and engaging, to be savored.
- South Australia
- Vintage: 2001
- Harvested: April 2001
- Time in oak: 9 months in French & American oak
- Alc/Vol: 13.5%
- Total Acid: 6.5 g/L
- pH: 3.45
The Artistic Expression
From the 2001 album, Dancing on the Water, "Autumn
Nocturne" has
been described as a gorgeous, impassioned, and moody ballad balancing
a tuxedo-clad Friday night at Carnegie Hall with a melancholy afternoon
spent daydreaming in a porch swing. Similarly, the Cabernet is
both vibrant and smooth, both complex and romantic, and both traditional
and innovative. To reflect these dueling virtues, the Cabernet’s
label portrays a classic grand piano (representing the tradition, pedigree,
and class of Cabernet Sauvignon) bursting into brightly colored flames
at its center (representing flavorful innovation exploding from convention
with passion and drama). |

"Red Collage" Jazz Shiraz™
The Wine
As Australia’s flagship grape variety, Shiraz has never been so seductive,
powerful, and opulent. Such is true with Bob James Red Collage Jazz Shiraz. The
deep red color runs through to lifted sweet floral aromatics of violets and cherries
then into stone fruits, plums, peppers and spices. Red Collage’s
soft tannins nurture layers of intoxicating complexity impeccably balanced with
lush texture, bold fruit flavors, and a kick of American oak.
- Barossa Valley, Australia
- Vintage: 2000
- Harvested: March & April 2000
- Oak treatment: 18 months in American oak (20% new)
- Alc/Vol: 13.5%
- Total Acid: 7.3 g/L
- pH: 3.48
The Artistic Expression
Bob’s original piece entitled "Red Collage" may
at first glance connote pandemonium, but as true in art as in mathematics,
even chaos has sequence, hidden meanings, and ultimately symmetry. Bold
colors fill every corner of the eye as seemingly stark blacks and whites
fade to ambiguous shades of gray. As a wonderful and complex journey,
both the Jazz Shiraz and the art work play to the imagination and personal
interpretation to be enjoyed on new levels with each passing experience. |

"Take It From the Top" 2003 New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc
The Wine
Living in the shadow of its popular cousin Chardonnay, the ongoing evolution
of Sauvignon Blanc fails to receive the credit is so deserves. With
aromas and flavors of citrus, apple and pear, zippy acidity plus herbal
notes, “Take It From The Top” is not your father’s
Sauvignon Blanc! Crisp and fresh, this spectacular white wine
is the perfect complement to seafood, poultry, and vegetarian delights,
as well as the stronger flavors of fall and particularly Thanksgiving
dinner right down to the notoriously difficult to pair Brussel spouts.
- Nelson, New Zealand
- Alc/Vol: 13.5%
- Total Acid: 4.1 g/L
The Artistic Expression
The Bob James Trio released Take It From The Top in
2004 as a tribute album to some of the best musicians the world has ever
seen, who have also influenced Bob’s own style, including Nat King
Cole, Duke Ellington, and Oscar Peterson. Beautifully collaborative
yet distinctly of Bob’s ilk, Take It From The Top reflects
the importance of honoring the best that life has to offer with creativity
and frivolity. The corresponding artwork depicts frolicking figures
connected only by the joy of life in a world of muted colors and random
coincidences. |

"Night Mood" 2003 New Zealand
Pinot Noir
The Wine
Wine critics love to disagree but one point of complete harmony is the
endorsement of New Zealand Pinot Noir. With beautiful aromatics,
great fruit weight, silky tannins and crisp, juicy acids, “Night
Mood” Pinot hits the US shores at prices that put Burgundy to
shame. Grown on plains of Nelson, these exquisite grapes are
cozily at home in the highest sunshine hours of any area in New Zealand
and protection from wind and frost as well as summer sun and heat through
natural topography. Hand plunged and lightly oaked, the finished
wine is an "up front" Pinot that will further develop in
the bottle. With cherry, cranberry and soft earthy note, this
delightful Pinot is brim full of supple well integrated oak and ripe
fruit tannins.
- Nelson, New Zealand
- Vintage: 2004
- Harvested: April 2003
- Alc/Vol: 13

this baby Brunello is perfectly structured to accent strong flavors while
still comforting, open, and approachable. Full in the mouth with
vibrant acidity, noble tannins and a long silky finish. An exquisite
dry red table wine, it's an excellent choice with pasta, game or steak
dishes.
